The body in the
Family Constellations
The idea that physical symptoms are manifestations of psychological pain
is not a new one,
and different methods of psychotherapy have found different ways
of trying to address this psycho-somatic pain.
The Family Constellation method is now becoming
more and more popular in addressing
different issues in our lives.
In my experience with this method I have particularly found
that exploring issues surrounding the body and our illnesses can be a very useful, respectful and
moving process.
Issues to do with physical symptoms,
chronic illnesses and difficult
attitudes towards our body,
are looked at within the context
of our family, our history,
and the community around us.
This work reinforces the idea that there is a
deeper level at which interconnectedness
happens.
This way of working helps in bringing to the foreground what the
purpose of the symptom
is there for, bringing lightness to issues that have been weighing on us for so
long, that frighten us, annoy us, and bring us to places of frustration and
exasperation.
This is an experiential workshop that involves role - playing (no dramatic
experience required).
It is open to those with physical symptoms and for people who wish to
observe and participate in the role-playing.
The workshop is also open for clients who wish to explore other issues
in which they think using this method can help.
.
Others who can benefit from this work are
parents or siblings who wish to bring the issues to do
with their children or
siblings.
